  1. That homer might be the highlight of the Cubs season. Wait till 2015! Seriously, actually.

  3. Am I missing something? Did Grilli get a terrible deal? He was a pretty good reliever last year and has an ok track record…maybe a one year deal at a higher AAV would have been better?

  5. He’s a 36-year-old middle reliever with 3.9 career WAR. Even generously weighing last season, expecting 2 WAR over the next 2 seasons is a stretch.

  8. Sheffield negotiated for himself in his first shot at free agency, and wound up going to the Yankees with a deal way the hell below what everyone expected for him. Turned out not to be a bargain if you trust UZR’s assertion that he had a range of about 3′ in any given direction, but the reaction at the time was that Sheffield had screwed himself. Kind of makes me wonder how he can talk another player into letting him represent them.

  11. Is it fair to say the Dodgers are cockeyed optimists, who got themselves mixed up in the high stakes game of world diplomacy and international intrigue by signing Hyun-Jin Ryu?
