  1. He also managed the Greenville Drive in 2007. He’s a very interesting guy.

  2. I’d like to see a piece on how this would affect the Rays infield, with a potential spot for Zobrist now seemingly gone, pushing him into the infield. What affect does this have on their glut of MI types? Rodriguez, Zobrist, Iwamura, Bartlett

  3. If you’re doubting Kapler’s eruditeness, just listen to his conversation with Fernando Perez on Baseball Prospectus radio.

  4. slickterp, from what I’ve read the plan is to have Zobrist as one-half of two platoons: at second with Rodriguez and in right with Joyce. Kapler would back up Joybrist. Iwamura, more than likely, will either be non-tendered or (their preference, I think) tendered then traded.

  5. If only Nick Swisher had half the respect from around baseball that Gabe Kapler did…spit…

  6. Aki will almost certainly not be retained so 2B is very much available.

  7. As a Cardinal fan I was upset he got resigned. I so wanted him and his lefty killer bat on our team. We need a 4th OFer that can occasionally play CF. Now we are going to get stuck with someone like Reed Johnson for more money.

  9. I’m sure it’s back to the World Series next year with this move, weather permitting of course.
