  1. Is a scout different than a talent evaluator, or is it just a way to avoid saying “scout” 700 times in a short article?

  2. contact and talent evaluator refer to either a scout or front office person.

  4. I spoke with said Gregorius may not hit .300 but he has a habit of coming up big late in games and in key situations. “He comes to the park everyday to win the game,” he said

I think I just threw up in my mouth. Is this quote from Ruben Amaro?

  5. That’s why he’s ranked 4th, while Nick Ahmed is ranked 10th because he comes to the park everyday to lose the game. That is the only difference between the two players.

  6. Put me down in the camp that favours moving players with Trahan’s skill set out from behind the plate early on. If he can be moved to right field, that would be perfect.

The problem is that catchers are more susceptible to injuries than other position players, and if one waits to move the player, the considerable offensive potential can be lost due to injury.

  7. I’m sure attitude goes a long way in determining what sort of career a player will have, but the way the sports world talks about attitude makes no sense.

  8. Marc – good stuff as always.

You mentioned it a bit in your summary, but does Spruill’s K rate concern you even for a backend of the rotation projection? If there is any dip at all moving up to AAA or to the majors, is he more of a fringe starter (swing guy in the pen/6th starter)

Also is there anything to suggest that his secondary stuff might improve from what you’ve seen?

  9. Are you not considering Delgado as a prospect or is he not highly thought of?

  10. I’m gonna have to have a talk with this Nick Ahmed fellow.

  11. Delgado got in way too many innings this last year as well as some from the prior year to qualify as a rookie.
