  1. Man I hope he makes it back. I loved Chief at his peek.

  2. As a family friend of Chad’s wife, I’m really rooting for the guy. At his peak he was awesome and is now an even better husband and father. Good luck, Chief!

  3. I don’t think non-Nats fans will understand, but before last year, the last time the Nats were in first place in the second half of the season was back in 2005, thanks in large part to Chief. Forty-seven times that season Chad Cordero entered from the bullpen, the speakers blared King Nothing, the fans went crazy, the stadium rocked, the seats bounced, and three outs later (usually along with a few runners on the bases and heart palpatations in the stands), the Nats had won again.

I hope he defies the odds and makes it back to the majors. Maybe he can return to Washington in the World Series. Assuming enough Nats diehards could afford tickets, he’d get an ovation, even in a gray jersey.

  4. Correction: 28 times. The other 19 saves were on the road.

  5. One sentence into the second paragraph, and I was convinced this article was headed for disaster territory.
