  1. So nice to see that NERD table again!

  2. Wow, St. Strasburg? I think it’s a bit early for him to be beatified much less canonized. I know the Vatican is fast-tracking the process, but this seems a little over the top.

  3. Baseball! Now I can go back to frantically following every Nats game and dying a little bit inside every time they lose. The Braves sputter along and dangle just enough hope presumably just so they can yank it away again and prolong our suffering for some perceived slight or unknown-to-me sins. Baseball.

  4. In college, he struck out 23 batters in one game and pitched a no-hitter in another. In the minor leagues, he pitched six innings of a seven-inning no-hitter. He most definitely performed miracles in his major league debut. What more do you want? People have certainly been beatified for less.

  5. That SD-STL matchup has to be the worst combined SP NERD ever, right?

  8. I anxiously await the inclusion of the newly minted “Coefficient Of On-field Lustre” score in this daily chart. It can’t happen soon enough.

  15. Post-season Wins. A pitcher who doesn’t win the post-season is worthless. Baseball is about Wins and losses and winning the playoffs.

  16. Jake Westbrook: I’m so tired of being the least interesting pitcher. Fangraphs is going to go crazy over this new Mike Tyson face tattoo I got.

Pete Kozma: Hey Jake, did you see you are pitching against Marquis tonight? That guy has a NERD of ZERO. What an L 7 weenie. I bet they would give him a negative if computers could process that type of thing.

    JW: Crap.

  17. When he helps his team win the World Series, he will be God. For now, he’s just a Saint.

  18. First day back from the all-star break, every game should have a 10 NERD score. Or higher
