  1. In line with our Fabulous Split Week here at FanGraphs,

Ha, first thing I thought when I saw the tweet about this post was “Man, it’s Splits Week at Fangraphs.” Love the stuff you guys are bringing – the new data is not going to waste.

  2. And it’s great to have you commenting here, Royals legend Kevin Seitzer!

  3. I was thinking the A’s could go with a Cust/Fox DH platoon, but I’m not sure Fox falls into the “decent overall hitter” category.

  4. It’s funny, when I was young I had a strange affinity for Kevin Seitzer, and I’m nowhere close to a Royals fan.

  5. Seitzer is from my high school. He’s on my All-time “all joy” team.

  6. Russ Branyan is still available, that’s just bizarre to me.
Examples: the Mets could use an upgrade at 1B and have obviously shown they want to compete now by signing Bay to a massive contract. And then say they’re happy w/ Murphy at 1B? Eek

He would also make sense in Florida in a platoon job for a year. Gaby Sanchez’s MLE from 2009 in NO was .242/.313/.379. It makes sense to me to have a lefty platoon in 2010 with him while he adjusts to MLB pitching.

Baltimore also has Michael Aubrey listed as #1 on their 1B depth chart. Really?

Right there, three 1B situations improved dramatically with Branyan. I’m sure there’s more.

Of course he could’ve started in a place like San Francisco, but lord knows what the hell is going on in Sabean’s head by thinking Huff is a better option than Branyan (or Garko for that matter).

  7. Sabean… you mean the guy who thought LaRoche was worth Abreu money?
