  1. Are we ever going to see Darvish in MLB?

  2. I wish I had a dime for every time I’ve been asked that.

I discussed that a little bit here and will go into a little more detail in one of my next two posts.

  4. I saw Falkenborg pitch a little in the Cardinals system. He will pitch again in the MLB one day.

  5. Patrick,

Thanks for this article, it is a great primer. Would you care to speculate on the effect future top-talent free agent signing by MLB teams will have on the MLB-NPB relationship?

  6. It’s hard to say, but I think this trend will do more to define the relationship between NPB and it’s players than NPB and MLB. So far Japan’s efforts have been towards the individual players (setting up a banishment rule after Tazawa signed, having every team woo Yusei Kikuchi), rather than MLB. I would speculate that eventually we’ll see limitations on MLB scouting activities in Japan as well, which is something that has been discussed but as far as I know not enacted.
