  1. Hultzen also has an excellent change. I tend to think he gets somewhat underrated, so it’s good to see you mention him. Low 90′s lefty that can touch mid-90′s with two good secondary offerings, along with command and control, plus “pitchability” is a nice package.

  2. I was wondering where some of the players in the 2010 draft would have ranked in the 2011 draft. I keep hearing how much better 2011 looks, but by how much? How would a combined top-10 of the 2010 and 2011 drafts shape up?

  3. IMO – Rendon, Harper, Cole, Jungman, Purke, possibly 2-4 players, than Taillon.

  4. Can you define your “Follow list?”

  5. Well, I don’t want to say that he touches the mid 90s. I’ve never seen a report of that, and I think Hultzen is more an 88-91 guy. The change-up is a good pitch, though.

  6. Follow list is a term that scouts have for the players they are keeping track of, and hoping to scout over a certain time frame. Around draft time, all an organization’s scouts will come together and their follow lists will become a draft board. In my case, over these two articles, the follow list has been guys that might get consideration for the top 2-3 rounds next year. Names will be added in August, so we’ll have a lot of people to keep track of next year.

  7. I don’t know the HS crop well enough yet to really say, but JUST LIMITING MYSELF to ’11 college guys, it’d be like:

    1. Rendon
    2. Harper
    3. Cole
    4. Purke
    5. Taillon
    6. Jungmann
    7. Gray
    8. Machado
    9. Stilson
    10. Pomeranz

You figure at least one high school kid makes that top 10, and probably 2, so the 2010 draft would have 3 guys drafted early if the drafts were combined.

  8. Thanks Bryan. That really highlights either how good the 2011 class should be, or how bad the 2010 class is. Or maybe both.

  9. I’m still pissed the Braves didn’t cough up the extra 200K to sign Rendon!

  11. Whats your take on Mike Dennhardt from Boston College. Solid control on 4 pitches, 91-93 fastball.

  12. Jack Bauer is super, I really wish they should hurry up with the film if they’re going to product it!
