  1. I know you’re being neutral, but could you rank the team’s drafts overall, instead of just giving us the favorite?

  2. Probably not. I could maybe be talked into also giving my least favorite, but that’s about it.

  3. You should do that. (I’m not very good at talking people into doing things, so please accept my lame attempt)

  4. Hey Bryan — you mentioned that the success of the draft for Det is tied to one player. I was wondering what your thoughts were, in more general terms, on how to define a draft as successful since of the 50 or so guys drafted by each team, 90% of them will never play in the bigs…

  5. Perhaps Bryan Holaday should stop trying to throw out runners with his glove. Might help.

  6. With Kenny Williams at the helm, it seems the goal of the draft is getting immediate returns on the money spent on higher draft picks, rather than developing guys. I wouldn’t be surprised if the strategy is to accumulate arms that are likely to show enough potential in the minors either in 2011-2012 time frame to be a useful piece in subsequent trades during those seasons (Richard, Hudson, Broadway, come to mind as college pitchers they seemingly wanted to trade all along). I also think part of the strategy with Sale is bullpen help this year, and anything else down the line either as a starter, reliever, or trade piece is a bonus. They’ve also drafted college position players (Beckham, Mitchell) in the first round, seemingly with the goal of getting contributions from them in the majors sooner than later (it would’ve been interesting to track Mitchell’s progress had he stayed healthy).

  7. I would love a least favorite, as long as it is obvious. Thanks in advance.
