  1. His velocity has been a tick down, though, compared to last year, when after the first month or so he found another few MPH regularly on his FB. I wonder if his injury issues are behind him, and if so, if he might bump his velocity back up next year.

    He is a great young pitcher, but has also eaten the Seattle Mariners alive in 4 of his 14 starts this year, so I think his numbers this year at least have to be taken with that in mind. Of course, as long as he’s with the A’s he’ll get to face the Mariners a number of times each year, so…

  4. I believe he is the least experienced pitcher that the A’s have ever given a long-term extension to– certainly true for the last 10 years. IIRC he signed it shortly after the beginning of his sophomore year in the league, meaning he had barely over a year of service time.

    He’s a wicked good pitcher when he’s healthy.
