  1. The Inge and Peralta signings have been pretty predictable, with Detroit paying about $4MM a win. Good little signings.

  2. Dan Fields played centerfield for the Lakeland Tigers.
Danny Worth is another shortstop who was with Detroit before a season ending heel/foot injury.

  3. Fields has never played SS professionally. The Tigers moved him to CF even before he was signed.

  4. Kila Ka’aihue and Mark Rcepzynski both disagree about that “MLB leader in Typos” business… :P

  5. RJ,

Unless I missed something huge, Hardy is NOT a free agent. The Twins are expected to/have already (?) offered him arbitration for 2011.

  6. I think he just meant that Peralta’s (first) name looks like it actually contains a typo. Those other names are just really hard to spell!

  7. Rzepczynski (perhaps your misspelling was intentional?).

  8. This. Unless Hardy gets non-tendered, he won’t be a FA. And the Twins would have to be morons to non-tender him; even if they don’t want to retain him, they could acquire something interesting in a trade with a club that needs a SS (notably San Francisco or San Diego)

  9. Peralta’s .260/.319/.414 slash line over the past three seasons appears behemoth compared to the American League shortstops 2010 production of .258/.312/.357.

Behemoth? Am I missing something here? BA and OBP differences are negligible while there is a significant but not outstanding difference in power. Given that the author admitted he has subpar range, doesn’t this make him a completely average AL SS at best? Nothing to get excited about here.
