  1. “I’ll make a bet with someone that Charlie Blackmon outhits him.”

Do you mean at the big-league level, or in the AFL? I’ll eat my hat if Blackmon outhits Belt in the majors.

    Also, yay, Ryan Verdugo!

  5. I once heard John Thompson griping about on his radio show about “electric mail” and how he doesn’t understand or use it of course. That was about five years ago and it still makes me giggle.

  10. I’ll take that bet. Who the heck is Charlie Blackmon? Brandon Belt will be an all-star by the time anyone knows anything about that guy. Hilarious, what the heck is this SCOUT stuff? Anything like the SABR stuff all these baseball geeks are chatting up? Yup, that’s what baseball is all about, meaningless stats. Of course, i disagree, but whatever.

I think it’s hilarious that you felt the need to add the “I disagree” part at the end. Uh, the mockery pretty much gave that away. You came to a graph-based stats analysis site and are surprised to see “meaningless statistics”. Heh Heh.

You need to learn what metrics are used for entertainment purposes and which are used for the primary analysis. Don’t create a strawman by taking a stat from one group and evaluating it as another.

You not understanding something and it being meaningless are two completely different things.

Relax, it’s the off-season. Have some fun. Fun goddamit.

  13. “Brandon Belt will be an all-star by the time anyone knows anything about that guy.”

That’s going to be awfully tough, considering both will be in AAA in 2011 with a midseason callup. Surely people will have heard of Blackmon when he’s a major league player in 2011.
