  1. Please come join my Diamond Mind Baseball league — we have an opening, and I want to trade Alcides Escobar because I already have Andrus.

  2. A healthy Penny is better than Scherzer? Get real

  3. Yeah I was wondering the same thing when I read that. Unless Verlander or Scherzer get hurt I don’t see how Penny ends up being the Tigers 2nd best starter.

  4. “People overstate the certainty with which they can evaluate a team’s fortunes. How good did you think San Diego was going to be last year? It’s bad business for a team to intentionally punt multiple years of potential fan base growth in almost every case.”

This is why I disagree when people say things like “Why did they sign (insert FA) when they are going nowhere anyway” The fact is you never really know in baseball, seemingly every year atleast 1 or 2 teams that nobody expects to do anything either makes the playoffs or competes throughout the whole season. So I think if you have a chance to sign a guy that can help your team you should do it even if it doesn’t look like you have a chance of making the playoffs on paper because you never know.

For the record I’m not talking about dishing out 100 million dollar contracts when you are trying to rebuild I’m talking about signing a veteran for a season or 2 even if he is a little costly.

  7. I can help clarify that.

    Dave *is* a Mariners fan.
    He’s never hidden that fact.
That fact has been commented on before.
I think it would be safe to assume that during his next chat or post, he’ll still be a Mariners fan.
