  1. The Brewers are crushing teams.

  2. J.J. Hardy: 2 for 3, 2 2B, 1 BB. Remind me again why the Brewers* traded him.

*I fixed this for you, Joe.

  3. No kidding. The Crew’s hand was kind of forced, Hardy was playing terribly, with a .660 OPS and their best prospect coming up at SS, but they bungled it by sending him down and destroying his trade value. It turns out the prospect (Alcides Escobar) is somehow even worse offensively than JJ was, but of course he’s turned it around since and as a Brewer fan I’d love to have him back. Gomez isn’t exactly tearing it up either.

  4. By sending Hardy down, they actually enhanced his trade value. It delayed free agency by another year.

  5. I’m confused, didn’t they get Carlos Gomez for Hardy? What would they have gotten if they DIDN’T delay his FA, TWO Carlos Gomez’s??!

  6. If FG tracked runs balked in (RBIs), I think the Twins might be leading in that category. At least in the category of highest fraction of runs balked in.

  7. Sad part is anytime the White Sox do something awesome I need to suffer through Hawk Harrelson watching the highlights on Such a catch-22.

  8. He’s just a better fit in the two-hole than Carlos Gomez.

Reading this comment makes me realize just how immature I am. I laughed.

    Daniel Descalso

    wOBA: .288
    WPA: 1.65
    Clutch: 1.44

They bottle up all of his sweat and sell it as “Grit”. His determination has been known to influence the Laws of Physics. When they make a movie of his life, it will be titled “Really True Grit”. You can’t stop Daniel Descalso, you can only hope to contain …”. Oh nevermind.

And another gritty player gets added to the TLRHoF.

  9. The recaps are such a great addition to FG, Joe. I look forward to going over these every morning.

  10. Granderson was actually 4-5…. with a stolen base, caught stealing, and picked off.

First time I can recall a runner showing up for all 3 baserunning categories in the boxscore of 1 game.
