It goes without saying that the Longoria contract was a savvy move by the Rays. But, if you were representing the next Longoria or position player with equivalent minor league #s and major league expectations, would you recommend that he take a similar deal, if it was offered (soon after he was called up).

Stop being so sensitive Jonah. Your piece on the Bruins was universally crushed throughout the internet…saying that the rest of the world was rooting for the Canucks wasn’t a valid opinion, they are clearly the most hated team in the NHL and you failed to mention your obvious bias or offer anything of substance within the article…stick to baseball.

“Vancouver is a big city. A few d*pshits starting trouble, and a few thousand more getting caught up in mob mentality, does not reflect on the entire city, let alone the entire country. I wouldn’t say that about Houston or San Jose or Cleveland if there were riots there. ”
What a perfectly idiotic, vicious, close-minded thing to say.
So let me get this right – if there were a riot in Cleveland, Houston, or San Jose, that would reflect fairly on those cities (and the entire country, possibly)? Because Americans are violent, angry people (Texans and Rust Belt denizens especially), while Canadians are just peace-loving folk (minus those few “dipsh*ts”), right?
If a handful of drunken Canadians acting like idiots proves nothing about Vancouver, where do you get off saying that a handful of drunken (fill in blank)acting like idiots proves something about (fill in blank)?
FYI – Houston actually won, rather than just competed in, major sports championships in the 90’s and saw only a handful of arrests in those celebrations.
I’m going to guess you’re reading his comment wrong because you’re looking for a reason to be angry.
Jonah is Canadian, defending Canada against a poster’s comments. He then follows with “I wouldn’t say that about Houston…”, which I take to mean JONAH wouldn’t call the people of Houston names if a few people started a riot there.
My guess: Jonah’s guilty of a bit of a misplaced modifier. That’s all.
