  1. Dan – If you can’t answer for proprietary reasons I understand but what would you most like to be able to include in processing ZiPS that you currently do not have access to.

  2. This was a really good chat, Dan.

  3. Most of the stuff I’d really like to see is stuff that doesn’t exist or never will, like better minor league defensive data, and hit location data for baseball history.

  4. That KC player ranking system is fantastic…

  5. Hope everyone enjoyed. Without one of the Davids supervising me, I was worried that I’d get off-topic too much, but we barely did! I can be a tough guy to keep focused.

  7. Dan, I know sometimes its hard to give a legit answer at the spur of the moment in a chat, but I’m curious if you overlooked Ackley or do you really think all 5 of those rookies will have better careers than him?

  8. Oh, I simply overlooked him. As you note, it’s a difficult question to answer quickly off-the-cuff. I really try to answer as many questions I can squeeze in – the ones I don’t post are generally the ones that will take a lot of time to get an answer in.

I still hate leaving any kind of question unanswered, but the sad truth is that when there are enough readers to write questions faster than I can think of answers, it’s swimming against the tide.

  9. Good chat. Outside of the disturbing lack of Dustin Ackley. There can always be room for Ackley.

  10. Cool, thanks for the reply. Glad I held off on the “you’re an idiot for not including Ackley!” post. :)
