  1. ‘the Matt Weiters-less Baltimore lineup’, he of the mighty .778 OBP. Certainly not wasting any time to canonize him around here.

  2. .778 OBP? No, that’s Jose Bautista.

  3. Really??! What a season! That On Base Percentage is even higher than anything Bonds ever did!

  4. It seems Halladay’s changeup is getting misclassified this year as a splitter, and when you take the pitch-type values for those, he ends up 4th on that list with 28.5 combined runs above average. Doesn’t really change your overall point, just something to note.

  7. Not sure about Halladay’s change, but there are a few pitchers who throw changeups from a split-finger-like grip which may lead to misclassification/different movement: Tim Lincecum’s change comes to mind.

  11. Historical precedent for a pitcher with so little ML experience starting Game 1 of a postseason series?

I’m still tingling. This is just the best time of year.

  12. Floyd Giebel? Have to check that but he pitched a clincher very early.

  14. Halladay throws a splitter as his change of pace. He used to throw a three-finger change – a variation on the palm ball. But since 2010 he has used the splitter as his change up.
