  1. The real enigma is why R.J. Swindle is still in the minors, if guys like this are getting a chance and proving to be successful.

  2. Looking at Swindle’s minor league numbers are pretty damn good. A career minor league FIP of ~2 over 150+ innings is respectable to say the least. So he seems to top out in the low 80s. Give the kid a shot. (The 7.1 innings he has thrown thus far does not really count).

    I heart me some junk ballers. Good thing my favorite team employs the current king, Wakefield.

  3. As a Philly Phan, I saw Swindle pitch in the bigs last summer. He was not overly impressive, but didn’t really get a fair shot. The problem I see with Swindle is that as a junkball reliever, especially with a 55 mph curve, any inherited baserunners would be running wild.
