  1. Could it be that in previous years Weaver would rather walk the guy instead of giving up the homerun but in 2005, Weaver (or his catcher) decided to challange hitters more, resulting in more strikeouts and less walks, but then more homeruns? Not sure how one would check that, perhaps by the batters count stats, see where he has inflated HR rates over previous seasons?

  2. I tried checking to see if he walked more batters in games which he didn’t give up a home run and it wasn’t the case. It may very well be that he was hanging around the strikezone a little too much. His walks and home runs just seem like too much of a coincidence to me. I’ll see if I can dig into this a further in the next few days.
