  7. Burnett has been surprisingly effective/efficient this season. His xFIP (2.98), swinging-strike rate (9.6%), overall strike rate (64.7%), and fastball velocity (92.8 mph) are all above average.

    ZiPS isn’t necessarily optimistic about him maintaining his performance to date, of course. Still, watching a pitcher who’s made adjustment (or even just changed leagues) holds some interest, probably.

  8. Gallardo’s overall strike rate (just 59.2%) is 1.4 standard deviations below average. He’s missing the zone kinda a lot right now.
