  3. If we extrapolate Carlos Quentin’s three games since he came off the DL to an entire month’s of production would crush all of these people. And yet the Padres still managed to lose all three of those games. To the Cubs.

  11. I’m not sure all endpoints are arbitrary. The absolute end (the last game a player plays) is an awesome endpoint that isn’t really subject to the observer’s judgement.

    Great piece, I like thinking about perceptions of stats!

  12. Indeed. I recall a lot of people saying he wouldn’t hit for average in MLB. Baseball Prospectus and others, however, stated that his hitting would improve over time.

    At 22, there’s a good chance he will lead the National league in homers.
