  1. I’m surprised that you gave Runzler ( I love him too) over Thomas Neal who has absolutely hammered the ball this season. Neal has a .444 wOBA and over 65 extra base hits. He is a hitting machine and has been a late round steal for the Giants.

  2. “we present an intro series looking at some of the players who deserve mentioning but probably will not be appearing on their teams’ Top 10 lists”

Neal will undoubtedly be on the Giants Top 10 prospects next year.

  3. Check out the underlined text in the first paragraph. Neal is most certainly in the top 10 and probably the top 5.

  6. Man, the Giants have rebounded nicely after many years of losing in the post-Bond era. That have put together some nice young talent they may be the best in the league.

  7. Other tumblers: Conor Gillaspie (zero power, mediocre D); Henry Sosa (another injury); Wendall Fairley (continuing general suckage)

Other sleepers: Jose Casilla & Jorge Buccardo (good GB & K rates); Edward Concepcion (another power arm); Francisco Perguero (lots of tools, finally healthy & produced)

I’d also put Brandon Crawford in the risers category even though his raw numbers aren’t great due to his reportedly very good defense at SS and improvement at the plate throughout the year while being advanced aggressively.

  8. What about Brett Pill as a Bonus/Riser? Not a bad year this season.

  9. While Noonan has certainly tumbled from the hype he had after signing, he actually showed some progress this season in his last two months when he walked a lot more than he had in the past. And, remember, he was only 20 YO in a league of mostly pitchers 22-24 YO, so he has been battling a disadvantage in experience.

  10. Hey, found your site by accident doing a search on Google but I will definitely be coming back. As for your post… I agree with a lot of what you’re saying here but wouldn’t it be just as easy to try something else? I mean why mess with your quality of life if you don’t have to?
