Regarding What’s Happening Tonight
Tonight what’s happening is the author is traveling via car and then boat and then car again to his in-laws’ house in the northern-most regions of Michigan — in advance of the July 4th holiday, that is, like an American.

The Thing That’s Interesting About Trevor Bauer
To say that there are “a billion” things interesting about Trevor Bauer would represent an instance of gross hyperbole. At the same time, there are a number of people who would suggest that sometimes it’s necessary to lie in order to tell the truth.

One Specific Thing That’s Interesting About Trevor Bauer
One specific thing that’s interesting about Trevor Bauer is that he throws a reverse slider, maybe. And tweets about it, definitely.

No Scherzer today. He’s been replaced this time through the rotation by Duane Below.

Fearless prediction – the internets explode when both pitchers carry no hitters into the 6th and are pulled due to high pitch counts. Grandal promptly mashes a tater to put the Friars on top. The snakes have a chance to win or tie with the bags juiced for the Junior Drew but he strikes out and becomes the easy scapegoat target.

  3. Drakos says:

I just hope that the Padres roll out a better defensive outfield tonight than they did for Cashner’s last start. Quentin, Denorfia, and Guzman is not the alignment I’d want to see behind me.

    [Andrew Cashner thinking this morning:]

There is no parleying with him from some rock or oak tree as young men and maidens prattle with one another.

Better fight him at once, and learn to which of us Jove will vouchsafe victory.”

    [Bauer's pregame taunt to Cashner:]

“Fool, prate not to me about the pitching guild. There can be no respect between men and lions, wolves and
lambs can never be of one mind, but hate each other out and out and through. Therefore there can be no understanding between you and me, nor may there be any covenants between us, till one or other shall
fall and glut grim Dr. Andrews with his UCL’s blood. Put forth all your strength; you have need now to prove yourself indeed a bold right-hander and man of leisure. You have no more chance, and Pallas Minerva will
forthwith vanquish you by my reverse slider: you shall now pay me in full for the grief you have caused me on account of my comrades whom you have struck-out as a reliever.”

    [Cashner's reply to said taunt:]

You are on the way to destruction.
You have no chance to survive make your time.
    HA HA HA HA ….

I guess Cashner v. Bauer didn’t really pan out. And Oswalt was also terrible. Chris Sale did well though.
Wei-Yin Chen should have a higher NERD score than 3.
