Contract Crowdsourcing: First Basemen
Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. FanGraphs is asking readers to estimate the years and average annual dollar values likely to be received by certain notable free agents. We continue today with first basemen. (Click here for more on the contract crowdsourcing project.)

Today’s One Playoff Game
ALCS, Game 3 (2-0 DET) | New York AL at Detroit | 20:00 ET on TBS
NYA: Phil Hughes (191.1 IP, 105 xFIP-, 1.9 WAR)
DET: Justin Verlander (238.1 IP, 80 xFIP-, 6.8 WAR)
I think there should be an option for 0 years, be it retirement or no one signing them.
My thought too
Although, when tallying results you’d probably have to exclude those results because they will distort the outcome that presupposes the player is desired by at least one club.
Or a minor league deal.
“outfielder”
Where is the “Lance Berkman will retire?” option
I feel like there should have been an option to say you think the Nationals will pick up LaRoche’s $10 million option. As it is, I just said he would sign for one year, $10 million.
Also, how come no James Loney? I feel like his free agency is more interesting than someone like Carlos Lee who probably isn’t going to get a contract.
But it is a mutual option which LaRoche will refuse so he will get multi-year over $10 per
Oh, really? B-R has it as a team option. Well that throws off my predictions.
Berkman: Retired
Kotchman: 1/1 or a minor league deal
LaRoche: 3/13
Lee and Pena: 1/3
13 per, or in total?
Haha you think laroche will sign for 4.33M a year? You are retard?
Oldies
“Aggressively heterosexual.” Ha.
(I think it was Louis CK who noted that heterosexual men seem to be the only subcategory of any species who cares a whit about what others perceive their sexual orientation to be.)
Handsome? It’s hard to believe with him standing there also holding a sign that says “outfielder.”
