Contract Crowdsourcing: Second Basemen
Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. FanGraphs is asking readers to estimate the years and average annual dollar values likely to be received by certain notable free agents. We continue today with second basemen. (Click here for more on the contract crowdsourcing project.)
Other positions: Catcher / First Basemen.

Here’s a rare image of so-called major-league second baseman Freddy Sanchez:

Today’s Playoff Games
NLCS, Game 3 (1-1 Tie) | San Francisco at St. Louis | 16:00 ET on FOX
SF: Matt Cain (219.1 IP, 98 xFIP-, 3.8 WAR)
STL: Kyle Lohse (211.0 IP, 101 xFIP-, 3.6 WAR)
ALCS, Game 4 (3-0 DET) | New York AL at Detroit | 20:00 ET on TBS
NYA: CC Sabathia (200.0 IP, 77 xFIP-, 4.8 WAR)
DET: Max Scherzer (187.2 IP, 78 xFIP-, 4.6 WAR)
Kelly Johnson okay. I’m sure he’ll get a solid deal.
Never heard of Isturis, Keppinger or Sanchez though
This guy wins
I saw Freddy Sanchez tracks in the woods once, I swear.
In the category “obscure Red Sox second basemen of the early 2000s” Angel Santos is all over the papers and internet today, while Sanchez – who after all went on to become a 3-time All Star and win a batting title – is forgotten. Life is unfair.
Keppinger strikes me as the guy we are all going to say this about in July 2013: “How the heck did he get all that money??”
