Im a huge NL guy and the NL this year is really, really, really bad. The 2010 or 2011 Phillies could prolly play without a RF and still make it to the WS. The best teams are who? The Nats? The Reds? The Cards? Giants?…does anyone really believe the Nats have what it takes to win in the playoffs?…i dont…in a short 5 game series against the Giants or the Dodgers, Ill take Cain, Bumgarner, Vogelsong(yep, not Lincy) over Stras(maybe), Zimmerman, or Gio…pitching becomes infinetely more important in the postseason…and experience even more important…the nats dont have either…i actually think the braves could catch them
The Reds would prolly go with Cueto, Latos, and…..Mike Leake? Bronson Arroyo?…with essentially Votto, Phillips, Bruce and no one else reliable, they arent scaring anyone. only thing they have going is a great bullpen and a ridiculously bad division….and neither the Giants, nor the Dodgers have the offense or bullpen to win the WS…the Cards are a flawed team as well…i think whichever NL team reaches the WS is likely going to lose in prolly 5, maybe 6 games.
Consider the 3 possible matchups. Personally, I think the Angels are going to win it all. Trumbo and Trout have been great, but Pujols, Kendrick, Aybar, Hunter, and Ianetta have all struggled to varrying degrees…Haren has pitched poorly, Santana has been AWFUL, and CJ Wilson has been good, not dominant…not to mention they lost their closer…if they can get healthy and somehow avoid playing the Rangers in the ALDS, I think they could cruise through the playoffs…can you imagine a 7 game series where you gotta face Weaver, CJ WIlson, Grienke, Haren, Weaver, Wilson, Grienke?….good luck. not to mention theyve got the best player in baseball in Mike Trout, and Pujols, Trumbo, Hunter, Kendrick, and Morales in their lineup…and the backend of their bullpen has been maybe the most dominant in baseball…the Yankees are old and dont have the SP to compete with the high-powered offenses of Texas and LA…i cant even imagine a series with CC, Nova, Kuroda and Hughes…pettite is done. …hughes and nova are FB pitchers with HR problems and thats exactly what the Angels and Rangers do best..
Predictions…
ALCS: Angels over Rangers in 7 games (Greinke pitches a gem in Gm 7)
NLCS: Braves over Cards in 6 games
WS: Angels over Braves in 6 games
MVP of Playoffs: Mark Trumbo
not only does the AL have the best teams in baseball, but they have nobody even remotely close to being as horrible as the Astros, Cubs, Rockies, or Padres….those 4 teams could maybe field 1 true major league team with all the best players combined…most have more minor leaguers starting than big league guys…if the royals played in the NL West, i bet theyd be winning the division….same with the Orioles or Rays or Blue Jays….even Seattle is way better than those teams
I was following along nicely until you said the Royals would be leading the NL West. Really? The Royals are better than the Dodgers and Giants? You might want to rethink that.
Hey Tim, thanks for naming the three most overrated teams in the overrated AL. It’s laughable how arrogant AL fanbois are.
