Dave Cameron Joins FanGraphs Full Time
I’m pleased to announce that Dave Cameron will be joining FanGraphs full time. Dave will continue to be the managing editor of FanGraphs and will have his duties expanded to other areas of the business.
Dave has played a pivotal role in the growth of FanGraphs since joining in early 2008. It’s very exciting to be able to bring Dave onboard in a larger capacity where he’ll be able to devote even more of his time to all things baseball, in addition to working on new and exciting FanGraphs projects.
David Appelman is the creator of FanGraphs.
Congrats Dave!
Should we expect to see Carson fired in the next couple of days? Dave, put aside your grudge and recognize the amazing work that your mortal enemy has put together so far.
Sandy, I’m not liking my chances. If I accidentally die in a fire, you’ll know what REALLY happened.
That said, Cameron is one of the more impressive guys in the baseball nerd business — not just for the content he produces (and the pace at which he produces it), but also for the way he conducts himself.
This is a case of a good thing happening to a good person, which is a nice thing to see occasionally.
What does this mean for USS Mariner?
I just put up a post over there about the future of the blog.
Dave, we’ve had disagreements in the past, but congrats.
Congrats, Dave! Great news for FanGraphs, as well as FanGraphs readers.
Sweet! Congrats Dave!
Congrats. Dave is one of my favourite baseball writers.
I thought this was a joke when I read the headline. Dave Cameron? Him?! Haha, in all seriousness this seems like a step down from owning the internets. Maybe this move will allow Dave to spend more time with his family instead of doing dozens of daily posts all over the web. I knew it couldn’t last forever. Congrats on early retirement. You didn’t stick around long enough for the watch, but here are some lovely parting gifts.
Congrats, Dave.
I don’t care.
haha, well, I don’t.
David, can you provide terms of the contract to let the FanGraphs proletariat analyze whether or not you were swindled, or if Dave gave up valuable freelance years in exchange for a get paid now accommodation?
Is this a Evan Longoria type contract, or is it more of an Alfonso Soriano situation?
Congrats to Dave C. I wasn’t aware that a job as a writer at FanGraphs would pay enough for it to be someone’s full time job. That must mean that FG is pulling in some pretty good revenue, which I am glad to hear because it is one of my favorite sites. Keep up the good work.
vr, Xeifrank
I am surprised by this! After he and Appleman disagreed on Frank Francisco..I thought Cameron was done, for sure.
It’s the old adage: “Keep your friends close, keep Dave Cameron closer.”
I just assumed he was Full-Time already. Are we now at the limit for Dave’s on this site?
Seems to me, by looking at the post count, Dave was already full time… ;)
Congrats…
Avatar stinks.
Thanks for all the congratulations, folks. I’m a pretty lucky guy. Well, we’re all lucky to have FanGraphs around – I’m just a little extra lucky to get to be part of such a fantastic resource.
Huge congrats Dave, well deserved.
First, congrats to Dave. I hope this is the dream job for you and you didn’t give up too many free agent years.
Second, I’m just hoping someone reads this, but I just noticed Fangraphs doesn’t have any form of current standings. Any plans to add them?
Congrats Mr. Cameron. I enjoy your writing and analysis.
Congratulations FanGraphs, you’ve hired yourselves a fine editor and a great copy production machine.
Dave,
Congratulations! I’m excited. Part of me is almost sad to see Fangraphs growing, as I love the barebones style… But at the same time, it’s wonderful news and I’m glad Fangraphs makes the sort of money that makes this possible.
And I’m kind of seriously jealous. :)
Congrats Dave! FanGraphs and USSM are essential daily reading for me, and I’m happy to see you finally reaping some rewards for your years of outstanding effort. I mean, I’m sure you’re not rolling in the dough now, and you better not start slacking off… but I’m happy for you.
I guess the Marriner Green FanGraphs colors fit even more now. :-P
Congrats Dave.
Good stuff, Dave!
Way to go!
