Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 1/2/14

11:46
Eno Sarris: See you in fifteen minutes, I hope!
12:00
Eno Sarris: Lyrics of the day include the chorus because why not and let’s dedicate this year to numbers, no?

So people of the city I don’t need your counsel now
And I don’t need your good advice, you don’t have my lover’s touch

You don’t have my number, we don’t need each other now
The creed or the culture, we can move beyond it now

12:00
Eno Sarris: Happy New Year!

If you still use a checkbook, how long until you stop writing 2013 in it?
12:00
Eno Sarris: Was about to put 2013 on the title of this chat!

Happy New Years, Eno! Any resolutions?

12:01
Eno Sarris: Got about five to ten pounds of beer weight I’d like to drop, working on learning Spanish, and have to get better at visualizing data and pushing my analysis while using the players the right way. I hope I can handle it all.

Comment From person hscer
No! It can’t be 2014! Gah…
12:01
Eno Sarris: It is. We better make the best of it now.
12:02
Comment From Alan
What should I expect from Paul Goldschmidt going forward? Considering him as a trade target, but should I expect a repeat of last year?
12:03
Eno Sarris: I think the steals will drop off fairly quickly. They’ll want him for power. And he may go through some bouts of trouble vs right-handers that could suppress his batting average in a tough year. But overall, in terms of power production, yeah I like him to continue that.
12:03
Comment From Nick
I hold an irrational belief that Strasburg is going to end up having one ridiculous 7-9 WAR season and then explode into a million surgically unrepairable pieces. Do you think that’s a reasonably realistic prediction?
12:04
Eno Sarris: He’s coming up on his Tommy John honeymoon (400 or so innings if you’re bound to have another), so yeah, that’s realistic. Also seems like the Nationals have made the changes they needed to, could have a good year, and push him to great heights. I traded for an expensive Strasburg in ottonue just to give him a ride.
12:04
Comment From Carl
Justin Upton’s 2013 production was right in the middle of his 2011 and 2012. Should we expect 2013 as the base going forward or is there more there?
12:05
Eno Sarris: I doubt the steals are coming back, so I don’t think a 30/20 season is in the cards again, and that’s important for fantasy. But his strikeout rate has been all over the place. If he can show power *and* a strikeout rate closer to league average (20%), I suppose he could have better batting averages in coming seasons.
12:05
Comment From Teddy
Still high on Jason Heyward in a keeper league?
12:06
Eno Sarris: Would be a little weird if he batted leadoff in 2014 like his manager says he’s planning to do. Might mean more stolen bases and runs, fewer RBI. I do like him for a great OBP, an okay batting average, 25ish homers, and ten ish stolen bases. That’s not a keep-three, but it’s a borderline keep-five.
12:06
Comment From Nick
Who’s going to drive the Nationals’ offense? I look up and down that lineup and I can’t see it being much better than last year, when it was middle of the pack at best.
12:07
Eno Sarris: Zimmerman, Rendon, Harper, Werth… that’s a good middle, IMO, Span is a good leadoff guy even without the steals. And the worst guys in the lineup really aren’t bad. It’s less about stars and a little more about all of them being good.
12:07
Comment From Clint
How would you ideally construct a 25 man roster – 13 pitchers/12 hitters? deeper bench? pen?
12:08
Eno Sarris: Almost always more pitchers. I’ll keep maybe one or two hitters on the bench, mostly just for upside play. I want quantity of pitchers, mostly fringe-y starting pitchers that could either give me some spot starts or just have a great stretch/season.
12:09
Comment From saskatunes
First beer of 2014? Both as a question to you and as a recommendation for myself.
12:09
Eno Sarris: Hey… haven’t had one yet. I’ll make it Breakfast Stout from Founders. It was my last beer before midnight, too.
12:09
Comment From Miketron
So I’ve started to look at my AL keepers and I have some guys with roughly the same skillset: Josh Reddick, Chris Carter, Mike Moustakos, and Matt Dominguez. Does any have more upside than the rest? This league has OPS as an additional category.
12:10
Eno Sarris: Moose has more downside than the rest, since there’s Danny Valencia in town now and he might get platooned. Dominguez is the safest with the worst upside. Carter probably has the best upside if he can tame the strikeouts even just a tiny bit.
12:10
Comment From josh
Minors Question: What is your go to stat(s) when evaluating a player’s readiness for the next level?
12:10
Eno Sarris: I like looking at plate discipline in the minors more than the majors. Bust rates skyrocket on players with bad BB% or K% in the minors.
12:11
Comment From Orlando
What’s a baseline to expect from Matt Carpenter next year? Our league’s scoring is a little off but he was our seventh ranked hitter in a points league last season because of his doubles and runs scored.
12:11
Eno Sarris: You can’t pencil him in for 120+ runs this year. Just can’t. Doesn’t have the power or patience of the perennial 120 run guys, which barely exist anyway. So make him a .290/10/100/50/0 guy, and he falls fairly rapidly.

I haven’t been to one of your chats in a while. What have I missed?
12:12
Eno Sarris: Beer, baseball, and weird.
12:12
Comment From John
Any concerns about David Price’s decline in Ks last year?
12:12
Eno Sarris: Sure, given he didn’t start with the most K% to begin with and all pitchers lose that over time.
12:12
Comment From Hank
Should I be trying to sell on Felix Hernandez in a keeper league? Relatively healthy throughout his career and I just feel like this can’t last forever.
12:13
Eno Sarris: Time comes for all eventually. I do think it’s an okay time to sell.
12:13
Comment From The old Professor
8 man keeper league, no time limit on the keepers..Rizzo or Pujols? Rendon or Profar? Felix or Stanton? I like beer, if that will help you answer these life changing dilemmas!
12:14
Eno Sarris: Wait can’t I just pick the best three? That’s Rizzo, Felix and Stanton for me. Make me pick a two-B and I’ll go after the guy with five categories in Profar.
12:14
Comment From Aaron
Where will you rank Manny Machado at 3B this year? I feel like he’s probably going to be overrated in a lot of places.
12:14
Eno Sarris: Bottom of the top twelve. Didn’t show much speed, has an infield fly ball problem that will tank his BABIP if he doesn’t fix it, doesn’t look like he’ll go back to SS, and unclear health at beginning of the year.
12:14
Comment From saskatunes
trying to decide what to do with Tom Wilhelmsen in my keeper. Good value but still, is it worth it for holds when someone similar can likely be had one the wire after the draft for nothing?
12:15
Eno Sarris: You can always find a reliever for good value.

Does Justin Verlander’s Sept/Playoffs lead you believe he got his mechanics straightened out and he’ll be back to “normal” in ’14? Or was last year really a sign of a steep decline possibly due to his heavy workloads?
12:16
Eno Sarris: He has pitched a lot, but he got the velocity back late. If he drops into the fourth and fifth rounds this year, I’ll be owning the poop out of him.

Yo Eno! Podcast soon? I’m going through withdrawls! Question – I’m our league’s commish and we are using Yahoo Groups for all of our administrative needs (communication, file sharing, rules posting, polls, etc.) and it sucks. I’d really like to change over to a different group site for this, but have no idea what’s out there and good. Any ideas? thanks!!!
12:17
Eno Sarris: Yeah Collette and I will start em up again soon. Thanks for asking! … Yah, this is annoying, and part of why I like ottoneu. I’ve used Yahoo groups, Google groups is a little better, and then I used my website for some of it… none of it’s really worked great.

Eno! Come to Chicago! I’ve got a bottle of Bell’s Black Note 2012 with your name on it. Figuratively!

Cano worth keeping as a 1st rounder now that he has moved west?
12:18

Thoughts on Arodys Vizcaino? Is he close to MLB-ready, or are Theo and the Cubs blowing smoke?
12:18
Eno Sarris: He’s definitely MLB-ready, it’s the question of where he’ll be used.
12:18
Comment From Andy5
My New Year’s Eve beers included Global Warmer, Palate Wrecker, and Two Hearted! It was a nice night.
12:19
Eno Sarris: Nice! I had Russian River’s Temptation, Beatification, Founders’ Breakfast Stout, and of course AleSmith IPA and Firestone Walker Double Jack, among others.
12:19
Comment From Jake
How many games is A-Rod banned? How many does he deserve?
12:20
Eno Sarris: I don’t think they get to call his previous transgressions his first-time offenses, they weren’t in the testing system. So this is a first-time thing, with perhaps shenanigans. Seems pretty much exactly like Braun when seen in that context. 65 or so seems okay. That’s my ‘should’ answer… what will happen? Really interested in finding out. I bet they reduce it some.

Any concerns about Edwin Encarnacion’s wrist going forward? Is it going to sap his power at all?
12:21
Eno Sarris: I think he’ll be fine. All off-season to get back healthy.
12:21
Comment From Peter
Which version of Joey Votto will show up this year: the 2013 version or the 2010/11 version?
12:22
Eno Sarris: He told me early last year that he made a conscious decision to sell out less, hit for less power, and make better contact… so yeah I don’t think those days are coming back.
12:22
Comment From Brad
I’ve got Jean Segura as a 22$ keeper in NL Only. I’m seeing a lot of “he’s gonna be over hyped, he fell off after the first two months, I’m a lover of his, 292 BATTED BALL DISTANCE! Guaranteed Steals! what is reasonable for me to expect this year from him? .285 10 homers 40 steals make sense?
12:22
Eno Sarris: Got no problems with those expectations. Could be the top shortstop again.
12:23
Comment From Marty
Do you think David Price gets moved soon? What teams do you think are the favorites?
12:24
Eno Sarris: I wonder why it’s taking so long. I bet Friedman is asking for the moon. I would say that the Red Sox would be in the best position to make the trade, but in-division… Cubs aren’t *that* close… I don’t know!
12:24
Comment From Gabe
I’m rebuilding in my 15 tm dynasty league, and I recently traded for George Springer, Oscar Taveras, and Matt Adams. While they’re definitely pieces for the future, am I crazy to think those guys may all be solid contributors in 2014?
12:24
Eno Sarris: Adams will be. Taveras might be. I’m worried about Springer’s strikeout rate and viability for fantasy…
12:24
Comment From Dave

I don’t know what game is being advertised to me over to the side here, but it appears that it’s a fantasy game where 75% of the gameplay involves animated women showering in skimpy bikinis. They really have the “target ads at fantasy baseball players who participate in offseason chats” thing down pat. I believe that my office neighbor thinks I’m trying to surreptitiously watch porn.
12:25
Eno Sarris: Yes what is the point of that game.
12:25
Comment From nwdave
Thoughts on Puig’s 2014?
12:25
Eno Sarris: .275/25/15? Some batting average regression. He made strides with the reach rate late in the year, so I don’t think he’s going to reach all the time, but his swinging strike rate wasn’t great. Power and speed.
12:26
Comment From Brad
Is Jeff Samardzija a no-brainer bounce back? Still had pretty legit swinging strike stats on all his pitches
12:26
Eno Sarris: I love him. Especially if he gets out of Wrigley, I think that might help some of his homeritis problems. His velocity went down, but it was still plus. And I like his splitter and slider.
12:26

12:27
Comment From Eminor3rd
What would be your most controversial HOF vote? Like if you’re a closeted Fred McGriff fanatic or you don’t think Tom Glavine even has a case.
12:29
Eno Sarris: I put Mike Mussina in the tenth slot on my IBWAA ballot, so that’s probably it. But it was more about protecting him and wanting to make sure that he got five percent and stayed on. 10-14 all have great cases.
12:29
Comment From Miketron
Garrett Richards, does he improve his strikeout rate and does he have a spot in the rotation?
12:30
Eno Sarris: I don’t think he has the arsenal to get guys out repeatedly, it’s just two pitches. Right now, he might, but his team wants to add more pitching.
12:30
Comment From Eminor3rd
You like Adam Eaton for next year?
12:30
Eno Sarris: Yes I like him. .280/10/30 I think he can do.
12:30
Comment From Eminor3rd
OLIVER projects Adam Eaton to turn a 98 wRC+ in a nearly 7-win season next year over the course of a healthy 1200 PA during 286 G.
12:31
Eno Sarris: Yeah we noticed a few of those. We’ll fix them up. Unless he plays for both Chicago teams…
12:31
Comment From Guest
Kole Calhoun is getting the 2012 love buzz that Lucas Duda received. Any chance Calhoun actually delivers on his potential in 2014? What is your outlook for him?
12:32
Eno Sarris: There *are* warning signs with Calhoun. He was old for his leagues and played in parks that helped power. So maybe he’s only going to be a .270/15/10 kind of guy. I do think he’ll get the playing time and be valuable.
12:32
Comment From Razor
Just took over an abandoned ottoneu team, and feel like I’m making A LOT of cuts. Normal? I’m nervous about how many positions I have to fill.
12:33
Eno Sarris: Yeah, you might end up buying some of your guys back, because the draft doesn’t always have good options for everyone. But cutting a lot of players is probably a good idea on an abandoned squad.

Whats your forecast for Ventura in KC? Does he make the rotation out of spring; if so can he put up decent numbers?
12:34
Eno Sarris: I think he’ll make the rotation, but I’m worried that his secondary pitches are no good. Need to see more.
12:34
Comment From Eric
What do you think the chances are of Ryan Madson landing a closer job this season?
12:35
Eno Sarris: Not out of the gate, but I bet someone like the Orioles picks him up and he’s part of a bigger solution, gets some saves by the end of the year.

Do the Indians have a shot at the AL Central?
12:35
Eno Sarris: I wanted them to sign a pitcher. They seem a little too quiet for a team that barely made it.
12:35
Comment From Schiraldi
A number of young pitchers who were good but not super elite prospects who came up in 2013 have insanely good projections for 2014 — Grey, Wacha, Salazar. Basically they are each being projected to pitch this year at a level that few scouts thought they would ever achieve in the majors. Any reason to be dubious of the projections? Or to think they have profiles that scouts underrate? (Size, change up…)
12:37
Eno Sarris: Yeah I wouldn’t want to pay full price for all of them. Grey’s approach against lefties means that he doesn’t trust his curve against them for some reason. Wacha saw some adjustments in the world series that he’ll have to deal with. Him and Salazar got a little predictable. But they all have the stuff to be great, so I’ll take them as #2s and 3s as I do think they could be aces. Wouldn’t want to pay top-20 prices for guys with lesser track records like these.
12:37
Comment From Lester

When does Bundy become relevant again in Baltimore (if ever)? I know coming back from TJ is never a sure thing but can he still become a middle of the rotation starter?

Tell me I’m crazy to think about keeping Jose Fernandez over Goldschmidt in a H2H Points Keeper. Already have Trout/Kershaw, league can be pitching heavy with 7 pt wins, 3 pts IP.
12:40
Eno Sarris: Still wouldn’t do it.
12:40
Comment From MOJO
Pls pick last 2 keepers in a 10-team standard keep-6 league (already keeping 4 hitters): Cespedes at cost of a 14th round pick, Kenley J (15th), or Koji, Wacha, Rosenthal, Salazar (all last rounders). And is it close? Thanks!
12:41
Eno Sarris: I think, since you don’t have any pitchers, the Wacha/Salazar combo makes the most sense to you. Closers are closers, you’ll find em. You obviously did already, three times. Rosenthal is a top-three guy, and young, so he makes it closest I guess.
12:41
Comment From person hscer
Oh, Joey Votto “told” you. Look at you with your access and all big time now :-P
12:41
Eno Sarris: Well I wrote a piece about it, could have just shared the link lol.
12:42
Comment From Grover
Speaking of Votto, Trout’s Aug/Sept looked Votto-like in LD% and BB%. You think that’s the type of hitter Trout wants to be going fwd?
12:42
Eno Sarris: Yeah after talking to Trout (yeesh) I pegged him as an up the middle spray guy like Votto… just with speed and D and all that.
12:42

I have a raise decision for W Rosario coming up. NL only 5×5 roto. Keep for 1 yr at $10, 2 yrs at $15, or 3 yrs at $20?
12:43
Eno Sarris: I think two years is safest. They were talking about moving him to the outfield, so there’s that risk.
12:43
Comment From Nathan
Will Joe Mauer be listed as C/1B or just 1B?
12:43
Eno Sarris: Eligibility is normally decided by last year’s work, and he was a catcher last year.
12:43
Comment From GSon
Asdrubal Cabrera suffered a nasty thigh contusion, missed time and was never right.. Do you think 2014 will be a bounces back year ?
12:44
Eno Sarris: There will be some age-related decline of course, but I do think he can manage a .275/15+/10 type season, which has value in the MI.
12:44
Comment From omm
Thoughts on Tommy La Sella in014 and forward? The next matt carp?
12:45
Eno Sarris: I was a little more excited until I talked to the Braves guys and they pointed out a few things. 1) no Triple-A experience, which might not matter but 2) Dan Uggla is still on the team. A hot March/April might give him the job, and I do like him as a similar guy as Carp actually. But doubt he’d score 120 runs even if he was as good as Carp elsewhere and got the job all year.
12:45
Comment From LaLoosh
think there may be something to a Rickie Weeks for Adam Lind type of swap?

Comment From Terry Puhl MVP
I would think the Astros have to give Singleton a shot after the Super 2 deadline arrives don’t you? Is it too early to expect much out of him?
12:47
Eno Sarris: He should get a shot this year, yes. I don’t think it’s too early, he’s played a lot in the minors.
12:47
Comment From LaLoosh
Sandy Alderson cannot possibly be done, can he? SS, 4th OFer, pen, 5th SPer, Ike… lots of work undone, no?
12:48
Eno Sarris: They have four OFs if you like Lagares, and I do. They’ve been pimping Ruben Tejada as starting SS, which is funny after they made fun of him publicly, but here we are. They have enough pitchers with their near-ready minor leaguers. And I think they might just option Duda and play Ike if they don’t like the trade offers.
12:48
Comment From Guest
longterm dynasty Hosmer or Puig?
12:49
Eno Sarris: I’ll take Puig. Especially in five-OF leagues, outfielders are more valuable. And I think Hosmer’s SBs will drop off faster, he’s older, and I’m unsure a big power boost is coming, other than a Billy Butler one-year blip type thing. Very GB-heavy.

Any thoughts on if Jarrod Parker’s excellent swing-and-miss stuff will translate to a higher K rate in ’14?
12:50
Eno Sarris: At this point, no I don’t think it will. His changeup gets him those whiffs, and none of his other pitches have good peripherals. If he had good fastball command all the time, maybe, but it comes and goes.
12:51
Comment From KJ
Smyly starting?
12:51
Eno Sarris: Like him, but others might like him more. His primary weapon is still a slider, and hopefully a year spent throwing the changeup less didn’t hurt the pitch.
12:51
Comment From Stephen
What are you expectations for Matt Adams next year?
12:51
Eno Sarris: .270/25, good RBI. I think the BABIP will fall as teams shift him more.

What do you do with Starling Marte having a higher (albeit, slightly) Batted ball distance at 291 feet than Justin Upton, Jayson Werth, and Michael Cuddyer?
12:53
Eno Sarris: It’s not the only determinant of homer totals. He is pre-peak, though, so you can nudge his homer total up a bit if you want.
12:53
Comment From Sandy
Ruben Tejada: worst SS in baseball 2014?
12:54
Eno Sarris: I think he can be a two-win shortstop. In what added up to about a season and a half, he put up three wins, so he’s done it before. Put him in the eight hole, get a .330 OBP and good defense. I’d put money on him not being the worst SS this year in the top 30.
12:54
Eno Sarris: If you’re talking fantasy, maybe.
12:55
Comment From Farting for Science
If I win one of the really huge lotteries, I’m going to license HitF/X and FieldF/X and make them freely available, including all past data. I’ll make Sportvision an offer they can’t refuse.
12:55
Eno Sarris: Probably have to pay someone to process that data a bit for people, they are sort of monster. But you’d get my undying love.
12:55
Comment From whilring darvish
What do you think about Gausman ($5) for Jackie Bradley ($6) in a fangraphs pts league? I’m long SP and short OF.
12:56
Eno Sarris: If it wasn’t points, I’d say no. But Gausman pitches in Baltimore, and Bradley’s on-base game could play well in points. You’re hoping they don’t get another OF between now and OD though.
12:56
Comment From Menthol
What is Brandon Belt’s ceiling?
12:57
Eno Sarris: .270/.360/25. I’m not sure I see 30 homers in that bat, but things changed a bit when he finally made the grip adjustment this year.
12:57
Comment From Ransom
Does the large amount of (amazing) innings for such a young pitcher scare you away from Jose Fernandez a bit? Why do I think a pitcher like Gerrit Cole is the safer bet?
12:58
Eno Sarris: I do like how they limited Cole’s breaking ball usage early on, too. It’s a crapshoot, but I could see the argument for Cole.

What’s your top 3 for a minors draft this year? International signings included. I assume Tanaka, Bryant, __?
12:58
Eno Sarris: Abreu.
12:59
Comment From Biertrinker
The following four teams are all listed by VegasInsider as 25:1 shots to win the 2014 WS title: Baltimore, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Seattle. Which of that group has the best chance to win the World Series in your estimation?
12:59
Eno Sarris: Pittsburgh. There’s even more young pitching on the way!
12:59
Comment From Where Oswaldo?
Who is expected to be the starting catcher for the Minnesota Twins? Suzuki or Pinto?
12:59
Eno Sarris: Sounds like Suzuki, but maybe not by the end of the year.
12:59
Comment From Jerry
1) Can Anibal Sanchez keep his K/9 rate above 9 in 2014? 2) Cliff Lee vs Cole Hamels over the next 3 years, who would you take? Lee’s peripherals are just too good to ignore. Thanks.
1:00
Eno Sarris: Hamels for sure. Lee said he’s going to retire after this year. Dunno if he was serious, but it is worth mentioning. I’m worried about Sanchez this year. Shoulder issue, more and more breaking pitches…

Comment From Shark Mapiro
The football team cements itself as the laughingstock of the league, the basketball team built to win this year is 11 games below .500, and the baseball team has done little to improve upon a year of contention. Happy winter from Cleveland!

Are the Mets stalling out in their rebuild? After Thor they have really nobody exciting in the system, especially position players
1:01
Eno Sarris: Happy new year!

Comment From Jack Morris
Will the BBWA vote me in the HOF? I’ve gotten closer every year, but will the growing logjam of [possibly superior] candidates limit my total?
1:01
Eno Sarris: I think it’ll happen but I hope it won’t.

Comment From kevinthecomic
FYI regarding Verlander. There was a post on fangraphs in the late fall that showed a comparison between his release point and his effectiveness. It really does look like he was working on some mechanical stuff during the dog days of summer.
1:01
Eno Sarris: yeah I wrote it lol
1:02
Comment From Derek
D.Holland is top__dynasty sp?I think he is undervalued.
1:02
Eno Sarris: I just sold him. I’m not sure there’s a lot more projection left. some of his improvement came with velocity gain, and that’s not going to happen again. As he loses velocity, he can thrown the slider more, but are his other pitches any good? Plus, home park problems.

Comment From Pirates Hurdles
Keep any or all of Belt $13, Headley $10, Cespedes $20? 15 team Roto 5×5 with OBP. Also have Price $31, Moore $20 as options for last 3 spots.
1:04
Eno Sarris: Tempted by the cheapest guy, especially if he got traded out of San Diego, but that’s depending on outside forces to help. I think it’s Belt actually. Good combo of price and skills that fit your league settings. I should revise his OBP peak upwards, he could .375 with a little batted ball luck.

I tend to wait on catchers in the draft. What catchers do you think will surprise this year? .
1:05
Eno Sarris: Great year to wait on catchers too, they go about 15 deep with mediocrity. I like Wilson Ramos, Miguel Montero, Jason Castro, and a little bit deeper: Devin Mesoraco.
1:06
Comment From Guest
Will Nick Franklin get traded ? Is he worth a spot on my bench?
1:06
Eno Sarris: Only if he gets traded into a starting role.

Can Kendrys Morales still recapture the 2011 magic?
1:06
Eno Sarris: A nice home park could do him wonders.

Great Nachos, good pizza, decent steak, or bad lobster?
1:07
Eno Sarris: Great tacos instead of nachos.

Leonys Martin or Michael Choice for dynasty?
1:07
Eno Sarris: Martin for sure. Choice might only face lefties all year.

Best N/A beer is root beer. Just as many calories, too. Plus you still get sick if you drink a whole bunch of them!

Comment From Jefftopher
If that’s your prognosis for the Mets, this is going to be one bad season of baseball. I’m pretty down on the farm once you get past Thor. Any reason to think the Mets will have a realistic window of contention anytime soon? Nimmo and Cecchini need to show a lot this year or those are two wasted picks, and Dom Smith is looking like 2017 at earliest. So is 2017 the year to contend?
1:09
Eno Sarris: I think the pitching is nice with Syndergaard, Montero, Wheeler, Harvey and even Mejia. Couple of other nice pitchers too, and Niese is really affordable for a long time. So they really need to find a way to find position players. A little bit of money and luck could go a long way. A big trade at some point.

Who will sign Drew? Mets should but probably wont.
1:10
Eno Sarris: Maybe back to Sawx. I think the draft pick thing is killing him.

Comment From Andrew
Eno, thanks for helping me win my keeper league last year. Which six should I keep: Mauer, Segura, Scherzer, Rizzo, Werth, Kimbrel, Trumbo, Starling Marte?
1:12
Eno Sarris: Segura, Scherzer, Rizzo, Marte. Trumbo. Maybe Mauer one last time, but your sixth is a bit of an issue. maybe Kimbrel plus Mauer would get you something nice.

Can Jose Reyes still put up another stud season or 2 if he stays healthy?

Follow up on Abreu: What do you expect his line to be next year?
1:12
Eno Sarris: .275 with 28 homers. The Cell will help.

Comment From Bag of Farts
Fantasy-wise, what are your thoughts on Chris Tillman this year?
1:13
Eno Sarris: Sell. Don’t like his arsenal, no pitch gets great whiffs or grounders, and the fastball is a bit straight.
1:13
Comment From Tanaka
How appealing are opt out clauses to you if you’re Tanaka?
1:13
Eno Sarris: Appealing. If he’s as good as he could be, he could make more than $20m a year but his first contract won’t be that.
1:14
Comment From Tom
Smithwicks Pale Ale is great, I thought I hated Pales and IPAs till this. Any other recommendations?
1:14
Eno Sarris: Oh you might like English Pale Ales. Look for bitters and cask pale ales then.

sounds like you’re going to go on a denial binge about the Mets.

Since there are quite a few similarities (age, position, debut), who do you think has the better career? Ceiling and floor? WIl Myers or Yasiel Puig?
1:16
Eno Sarris: If we’re talking real life… Myers D was a little disconcerting, but I think he’ll eventually have better plate discipline and more power. I’ll take him by a nose over Puig’s tools.
1:17
Comment From kerney
Thoughts on Brad Miller this season?
1:17
Eno Sarris: There might be a little more power in that bat. if there is, he could hit .275 with just under 20 homers and double-digit steals!
1:18
Comment From Pitching Parallels?
Will/can matt moore’s career path look like kershaw’s? Started with mid – high 90s fastballs, really high walk rates and fly ball rates early in career to low – mid 90s fastballs, great walk rate and solid GB rates later
1:18
Eno Sarris: I don’t know why I don’t believe this will happen, but I don’t.

Taijuann Walker Projections please?
1:20
Eno Sarris: With the good swinging strike numbers and strikeout stuff, I’ll take the over on his Steamer projections (4.43 and 1.41). In that I like him for maybe a high-threes ERA and an average walk rate with close to a K per nine.

Kipnis more valuable than someone like Justin Upton?
1:21

Are you buying Masterson this year? He confuses me.
1:21
Eno Sarris: I’ll buy if everyone hates him, but he still doesn’t have a third pitch.

Any opinion on Marcus Semien?
1:23
Eno Sarris: He has much better plate discipline than he showed last year, but how many chances does he have? Beckham ahead of him at second, now Davidson at third…
1:24
Comment From Left Hand
Is Edwin Encarnacion & Jose Fernandez too much for Chris Davis? Have too much pitching and only so many keeper slots…
1:24
Eno Sarris: When you’re dealing with keepers, all you need to ask is: who is the best keeper here. It’s Davis. There is almost no such thing as overpaying when your’e trying to get down to a small keeper list.
1:24
Comment From Erasmo
thoughts on me this season?
1:25
Eno Sarris: Watch the velocity. If he’s sitting 91 in spring, I’m not interested. Because he throws that thing high and gets homers hit off him. At that velocity, he’s like a Dillon Gee in the American League… no thanks.
1:25
Eno Sarris: I gotta go!

Eno, you are in denial over this Mets team bro! They cannot possibly stop now with this roster after the FA signings they’ve made this winter. That would be insane. This is still most likely just a 78 win team as the roster stands now.
