FanGraphs Audio: The Late Greg Halman

Episode 105
David Laurila, curator of the FanGraphs Q&A series, had the opportunity to speak with the late Greg Halman this summer at Fenway Park. While the audio wasn’t originally intended for public release, it serves as touching portrait of a talented young athlete — and ambassador for Dutch baseball — whose life ended tragically.

    He will be missed.

I lived in Holland for 4 years from 1999-2003 and fully enjoyed my time there. I got to watch a baseball game while there. I saw Hensley (Bam Bam) Muellens play.

My first week there I played in a softball tournament. Baseball is big in the Americas and some parts of the far east, however not much beyond that. There was however a small but strong following in the Netherlands.

This interview shows how Greg loved baseball and the Netherlands just as I have learned to.

From one Honkbaler to another you are in my thoughts.

    Tot Ziens
