I want to try Harball Dynasty. I looked at the open world universe and there aren’t any open leagues (non-private ones). Do they periodically open new public leagues through the year and I should just sit tight or should I attempt to join a league in year 20? There would seem to be a steep learning curve here…

You can join private leagues, you just have to go into the HBD classifieds on the forums and find a league looking for new people. Private is just a way to control who comes in, rather than a free for all.
