I wish all the plays used to calculate UZR could be “tagged” with the batter pitcher matchup. With that information, B-Ref WAR would be much more accurate.

Ed Wade = Dayton Moore Lite.

    Take that as you will.

No, Dayton Moore knows how to evaluate young talent. He just has know idea how add veterans or how to make that talent work on a big league team. Wade is a disaster on all fronts. He probably deserves some credit for the success of the Phillies, but his time in Houston has been an unmitigated disaster. Even in Philly, He completely mishandled the Howard Thome situation. Howard should have been playing in ’04. He cheated the Phillies out of year of Howard’s prime. He completely botched the Scott Rolen and Curt Schilling situations. Had Wade stuck around, he would have found some way to run Utley, Howard, and others out of town and there is no way that pitchers like Lee and Halladay would have taken less money to play for him. I could see Dayton Moore being a valuable assistant GM or something somewhere, or even learning to become a good GM, but Wade is hopeless.
