I always miss these, but I enjoy reading it afterwards still. Thank you for doing them.
Anyway. Similar to [ERA minus FIP] for pitchers, which is a sortable stat on the leaders pages, wouldn’t [BABIP minus eBABIP] be a useful stat for hitters? I feel like it could be used to see whether hitters were (un)lucky one year, better than BABIP by itself because it would be derived from the hitter’s actual batted ball rates, rather than just comparing someone’s BABIP to the league average. This could then be used to help project whether a hitter is expected to improve or regress year to year.
And by eBABIP I mean Expected BABIP based on LD%, GB%, FB%, park factors, etc. I know you have that stat somewhere, but I don’t know what it’s called.
