The Hardball Times Joins FanGraphs
I’m pleased to announce that The Hardball Times will be joining the FanGraphs family.
The Hardball Times has a long-standing tradition of excellent baseball writing and research, and we’re extremely happy to have them as part of our team. Dave Studeman and I plan on continuing the excellent tradition of bringing talented researchers to a broader audience.
THT will continue to operate as a separate site, keeping intact the strong THT brand. Over time we’ll make some changes and more tightly integrate the two sites as we see fit.
We’re really excited about the great work that will come out of our combined organizations.
Dave Studeman’s THT announcement can be found here.
David Appelman is the creator of FanGraphs.
Another Dave? Oh man, I keep getting bumped down the “Dave/David hierarchy.”
ZiPS… Oliver… there can be only one!
Oliver will win after Cistulli saves its reputation with a cocktail called the Oliver Twist. The formula is a closely-guarded secret, although it involves a slice of lime.
nerdgasm!
Why go there?
When are you guys going public?
Mazel tov!
Need to institute an official policy on this, Dave A, Dave C, Dave S etc.
a Dave E would make them ACES
I’m sorry Dave, but I’m afraid I can’t do that.
One must wonder how pliant THT will be once David Appelman finishes his marathon marriage consumation.
Prima Noctae for all THT writers?
Meh, considering everybody lives in their moms’ basement, it probably won’t be an issue.
Didn’t this happen already?
Did Fangraphs and HBT utilize the “assets over” or “assets-up” form of merger (26 CFR 1.708-1(b)(3)) or was it a straight asset purchase? Did HBT’s profits interest pay out, get canceled or get assumed? C’mon, give us Inside Baseball.
For the movie, portray this as a hostile takeover; conflict is more entertaining than baby bunnies and kittens.
I would love to see a FG/THT movie.
All of those spreadsheets makes for a riveting plot, I’m sure.
So nobody has to stay up late wondering: yes, I will make a cameo playing myself.
Baby bunnies eaten by kittens—and smiling all the while! Very kawi.
Does this mean the THT site will get a web redesign so it stops looking like a junior high school project?
And perhaps FG will get a copy editor. Synergy, indeed.
