1999 Data!
A couple weeks ago Retrosheet released its 1999 dataset, and now it’s available in the FanGraphs variety.
We now have full win probability statistics for 1974 - 2008.
David Appelman is the creator of FanGraphs.

We get many questions here regarding the 1999 data and the “controversy.” Would you be able to shed some light? I honestly was not aware why the data wasn’t available but figured it had to do with some type of licensing fee.

I’m not sure why the data hasn’t been available until now, but I too guess it had to do with licensing/money.
