Noonan was in A-ball with Bumgarner and Villalona.

I think Rodriguez got $2.55M in total, the highest up to that point for a Latin American prospect until Inoa signed.

As a Giant fan it feels good to see the Giants making a conscience effort to build a strong minor league system. It has been too long since we have developed offensive talent, hopefully guys like Villalona, Posey, and Gillaspie can continue to grow.

Two small notes:

The Giants tried to change Bumgarner’s mechanics in spring training and over his first three starts he got hit hard. Then, he went back to his old delivery and had a 0.90 ERA for the rest of the year.

Villalona really worked on his conditioning during the year and had lost quite a bit of weight by the end of the season. He obviously needs to work at keeping it off, but it sounds like he has a better handle on it.

Maybe it was a typographical error, but check the numbers: Angel Villalona played the majority of the 2008 season as a 17-year-old.
