I'd love another article highlighting how Aardsma is getting guys out. His FB rate is astronomical, and I'd love to see if he's good at inducing bad swings, or if he's having one of those lucky years that will earn him a lot of money.

The other great thing about this acquisition is that when the time comes he can be flipped for something else valuable, as he's on his way to acquiring "proven closer" status.

And Morrow (the original closer out of Spring Training) has 6. Add in Sean White's one, and the M's already have 21 saves in 69 games. That's a product of the team's lackluster offense resulting in almost every win being a save situation. Already the Mariners have played in 31 one-run games (18-13 record) vs only 16 five-plus run games (7-9 record). Compare that to a team like the Red Sox: just 20 one-run games (11-9 record) vs 21 five-plus run games (14-7 record). Papelbon has 16 saves, Saito and Bard have 3 more, so the Red Sox have two fewer saves than the Mariners despite having seven more wins. (Of course it helps if your bullpen doesn't compound the problem: the Bosox have just 7 blown saves vs 11 for the Ms)

If you're really hearing the voice of Jerry Remy, you must have meant to write "AhhdsMER".

I know this stat is useless, but I just wanted to add that Aardsma has 14 saves this season.

I'm a Mariners fan and have surely watched Aardsma pitch for Seattle more than for anyone else, but I still can't help but hear Jerry Remy calling him "Aahdsma" every time I see his name.

Since the beginning of June Aardsma has 2 walks and 15 strikeouts in 8 innings with 62% strikes (58% prior to that). Gaining some control or small sample size?
