Andrew hit it mostly on the head...

When picking players, often there are many that I could choose from... Halman has an interesting ceiling - Chris Young (ARZ) or Mike Cameron... and has not been talked about as much as Triunfel and Aumont (whom I interviewed prior to the 2007 draft). I tossed a coin between Halman and Moore.

I still think it's fair to say time away from the catching position will hurt Clement, who, yes, is a bad defender. But not working at it game-in-and-game-out will not help him get any better. They might as well move him permanently now... they have some other options in the minors anyway.

Triunfel was having a disappointing season up until July or so, and is in high A-ball "still" (not that there is anything wrong with that; he was the youngest player in the league). Aumont pitched well, but in limited time in comparison with the others you mentioned. While Moore was clearly a superior hitter to Halman this year at W. Tenn, he's also 4 years older.

I think the combination of Halman's youth (he was 20 when the season started) and solid production at a high minor league earns him the "riser" status for 2008.

Interesting write-up. Saying, "time away from catching could hurt his growth as a defender," is a bit interesting though. Clement might be the worst defensive player in the MLB (out of all positions).

But any particular reasons why Greg Halman is the "riser" instead of Truinfel, Aumont, or even Adam Moore?
