Ideally, Alvarez. If Alvarez is the 3b of the future, then either LaRoche moves to 2b, or maybe Delwyn Young can show enough pop to stay there. They don’t have a great defensive alternative to LaRoche, though, and I’m not really sure how well that move would work. Hopefully Andy starts hitting more consistently, to make things a little easier.

As of right now, the team believes that Alvarez will be able to remain at the position for at least a few years. They’re assessing LaRoche for a possible conversion to 2B.

I thought the Pitts. Pirates were a minor league affiliate of the Braves and Red Sox.
