Surely Randy Johnson will be among those greats after next year. Even though he turned 45 earlier this month, its technically still his age 44 season, but what a season… 135 tRA+… 3.97 K/BB, over 22% K/PA… wow.

What Randy Johnson is doing at age 44, 169 IP, 166 K, 3.99 ERA, 3.77 FIP belongs in the same conversation. Perhaps Moyer is a bit more interesting because otherwise his career isn’t particularly notable, but Johnson has been comparable and 44 can’t be much less rarefied air.

So basically, we can’t even accuse Silva/Washburn/Batista of pitching like 45-year-olds.

Granted, I wouldn’t necessarily expect Moyer to perform quite so well in the A.L.
