Thus, Wise makes sense in that aspect. I doubt he is penciled in as the 5th OF at this point but you never know. Its a huge shift in strategy from having a DH/1B like Matt Stairs as your "5th OF". All in all, a very good low cost, low risk signing that will provide the Phillies with AAA depth at the least. SS Wilson Valdez was signed the same day and he falls into the same boat for the Phils.
