At Long Last: Leaderboards!

I thought I’d give everyone a little sneak peak at our long overdue leaderboards. The 4 different stat pages for batters and pitchers include pretty much all of the stats in the usual player pages. All the stats are sortable; just click on the stat name and it will sort in ascending order first and then if you click it again, it will sort in descending order.

The leaderboards are not integrated into the regular site navigation yet, but you can access them if you click here.

If you find any problems or errors, please let us know and feedback (bad or good) is always welcome.

    Awesome!!!

Three quick comments: it would be nice to differ the original order type (ascending or descending) by the stat, using whatever makes the most sense for each one.

Also, is there a way to expand the default number of players on the first page? It would be nice to list 100 or 150 on the first page, to make it easier to copy and paste.

Third, it would also be nice to have “All” players for the WPA stats, instead of looking at batters and pitchers separately.

I’ll bet you already thought of those…

    Congrats, David. This is super.

    Thanks Dave!

The ordering of stats is something that I plan on getting fixed soon. Sorting things in the wrong order first, I too find kind of annoying.

I like the idea of changing the default page size and should be able to squeeze that in somewhere.

The all players for WPA stats I’ll probably hold off on until the run environments are entirely correct. It’s probably not all that fair to compare batters and pitchers for years prior to 2006 right now.

One other quick thing: I think it makes more sense to make WPA the default sort for batters’ WPA, instead of clutchiness. Sorting for WPA takes two clicks (one to move to WPA, the other to sort correctly).

    First of all… AWESOME.

I’ll second studes’ request to be able to view more than 50 or so players at one time - all pitchers or hitters at one time would be great. Even spiffier would be to have links to be able to download all the stats as a text file (or, gasp, an Excel file) with the click of a button instead of copy and paste.

    Keep up the fantastic work.

David - I’m late to the party here but wanted to also congratulate you on the leaderboards. As you know, I love your site. I love it that much more today.

    Thanks for all you do.
