CHONE Projections

The CHONE Projections are now up in the player pages, the projections section, and you can get a customized player list of projections using the MyTeam feature.

Huge thanks to Sean Smith for allowing us to post the projections again this year and don’t forget to check out baseballprojection.com to see any player’s projection in more detail.

In case Chone frequents this site, just wanted to thank him again for putting up the CSV files, they made it so much easier. Keep up the good work.

Awesome! I was hoping these would pop online here.

Is FanGraphs planning to include ZiPS this year?

    Thank you so much, Sean.

Is there anywhere that I could find an overview of how you arrive at the projections? Not looking for you to give away your secrets, just for an overview. Specifically, I’m wondering what stats your system uses. Do you use batted ball data, or just regress BABIP, or none of the above? And do you look at things like contact rate, speed score, and walk rate in determining batting average, or just regress batting average and backtrack to determine some of those peripherals?

    Thanks again.

Also, I know you do defensive projections for individual players, but are these combined team-wise and then used in determining hit rates for pitchers?

Why is the last column in the Chone batters column labeled RAR, when it’s R150? Those two are quite different.
