Custom Dashboards (Beta)
A couple months ago we released the “Dashboard”, which gave you quick access to the stats that we thought were some of the most useful. Now you can build your very own!
If you’re logged in and go to the new settings page, you’ll be able to select which stats and the ordering (and separators), you’d like to see first on any of the player pages.
There are also two other options.
- If you don’t like the Dashboard at all, you now have the option to remove it completely.
- You can now hide minor league stats on major league players pages by default.
If you create a custom dashboard, but would like to remove it, just clear all your custom stats selections and it will be gone.
It’s worth noting that you are not limited to the number of stats you’d like to put in your custom dashboard, but space is a bit limited right now and it’s probably best if you keep them around 17 individual stats. Here’s an example of the one I’m currently using:
Please let us know if you encounter any problems (this is still considered a beta product) or if you have any suggestions.
6/3 Update: There was a bug that I accidentally introduced around 10am this morning. Everything should be working again.

Brilliant! Thanks for setting this up.
Faaaaaantastic!
This is why you are the best in the business.
This is really great. Thanks.
awesome.
it would be even more awesome if you could get the “my team” page to default to the custom stats as well.
+1. It would be great if we could see the dashboard on “My Team” so I wouldn’t have to toggle back and forth between Standard, Advanced, Value, etc.
Regardless, the dashboard was a great idea, and customized dashboards is even better.
how does one get to the “new settings page” besides clicking on the link in this thread?
I’ve added a “Customize” link to the header if you’re logged in. There will be another link in the player pages fairly soon.
This site keeps getting better and better.
David, is there any way you can get stat columns to sort *descending* on the first click? Whenever I sort by WAR or OPS, I usually first notice the Melkman Cabrera and his .150 BA. This is not a pretty sight for a Braves fan.
I remember asking for this a few years ago. Thanks for implementing it. I think I am going to cry. :)
I’m not gay…. but David…. you are tempting me! HAHA!
All we need now is a head-to-head comparison page… I LOVE THIS SITE!
I am in love with this feature! Any chance of adding K%, and BB% to pitchers? (K/TBF BB/TBF?) I like this a lot more then K/9 BB/9 (a better measure of a pitchers true skill).
same, K/9 and BB/9 are pretty flawed stats
You know what the correlation between the two is? .99 for pitchers with more than 30 innings pitched. For however flawed K/9 is, it measures almost exactly the same thing.
Thank you for point this out. It’s bad for sabermetricians when they get too into the conceptual points and ignore the empirical reality.
Unbelievable. This is why you guys are the absolute best…. THANK YOU!
Next step will be to have a customizeable leader board.
I would like to see David Appelman and Sean Forman fight (UFC-style) for the title of best baseball stats website. Eye-gouging is allowed.
i WUV you
Superb!
I don’t think I see Shutdowns and Meltdowns listed…?
Fantastic!
Btw, are there any plans for a Fangraphs API? I’ve been dying for that for a looong time.
Just awesome. Two I-want-more’s:
- Customizable leader boards so I can get all the stats I want in one view.
- The default for the customizable Dashboard to be what’s shown right now. Then I can tweak it without having to start from scratch. (Maybe include a “clear all” button.)
This is cool, but when are we gonna get tERA to the leaderboards, by the way?
I’d like to be able to chose plus/minus and UZR (and Total Zone, too, really) individually for comparison, but even without that, this is just awesome.
+1
Now I’ve stumbled upon something that can really help my fantasy team. Thanks!
