Wells strikes out way too much, but so does Wilkin at 33%, Wells has similar power.

These two seem pretty comparable so I'm confused as to how one is 5th and the other is off the list, especially considering Wells superior BB rate.

Is Strieby worse than Guillen in left or Ordonez in right? Poor defense has never stopped Jim Leyland in the past.

That isn't entirely accurate, he goes on to say in the comments that if he was more sure about his health he would rate him much higher. I tried to see just how he would rate Strieby against the other 1B out there but he didn't reply. While I do think Strieby is basically limited to 1B, I think he D would be average and his bat's potential is well above average.

I think the bat will carry him. I like the power and he's shown the ability to get on base, as well. In the AL, I see defense as less of a concern... DET should be able to find playing time for Strieby at 1B or DH. LF is definitely not an option. I'm definitely more of a stats guy than Kevin G, so there is bound to be some differences in our rankings.

Casper was a difficult deletion... He could have been there at No 8-10 but I think DET definitely needs the pitching help and those guys are going to have more value to the organization. I don't think Wells has completely proven himself to me yet, although he has some similarities to Wilkin Ramirez, who has proven a little more. They both strike out a lot, they both have power and they both have speed... Wells is the better defender, but again... Ramirez has proven more and is also younger. You can toss Boesch in there too. It was definitely a difficult system to rank... I would not argue you if you added Wells in there and deleted any of the 8-10 guys.

Marc -

Kevin Goldstein at BP also had his rankings of the tigers out today and has a very different view of Strieby, putting him ninth in their system (including '09 draft picks). I won't post his whole comment, but notes the bad as: "The bat is Strieby's only tool. He doesn't run well, and his arm is below average. There are significant holes in his massive swing, and he'll always strike out. Wrist problems have limited him to just 198 games over the past two years, and while his performance with that problem is admirable, there are some long-term concerns."

No Casper Wells? I'd put him in the 5-8 range. I could see him fighting for a spot in the spring.

I haven't completely given up on Iorg like some have, so I'd put him at 8-10 instead of guys like Boesch, who is basically a poor man's Marcus Thames and Marte, who has been hobbled by injuries and was left off the 40 man.

You really think that Weinhardt has another year and a half before he's ready to pitch in the majors?
