R.J., you may not be factoring in all the variables when dismissing Floyd as a net loss for the Padres. When you consider that Giles was/is currently embroiled in a woman-battering incident (and there is video btw) don’t you think the veteran leadership needs a real push forward? it’s a significant need when you have an abuser as you current role model and mentor.

Silly R.J. We all know if it wasn’t for Cliff Floyd, B.J. Upton would have hit 5 less HRs and Carl Crawford would have made 10 less plays in the outfield.

As a long time Met fan I share your strong feelings towards Cliff. He was always banged-up and hurt. But never did I question his effort or desire to play every day. At that point in his career he still had a lot more to offer than he does now but what has stayed consistent is his positive influence on his team by just being Cliff.
