What do those numbers look like when they're park-adjusted? Cain is an extreme fly-ball pitcher who has the luxury of playing in a park where flyballs stay in the yard at a remarkably high clip, same goes for pitching frequently at PETCO and Chavez Ravine.

I love Cain as much as the next guy, but if he pitched for the Cubs, say, I don't think he's numbers would look quite so good.

Jessica, great point. And, of course, as soon as I type this, Cain goes out and has an 8 IP, 2 H, 10 K performance.

Yup, this is reason #443,218 why wins and losses are a terrible way to evaluate pitchers.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if at some point over the next few years, Cain pitches a no-hitter and gets tagged with a loss for his efforts. Tough to hit, issues his share of walks, plays on a bad team...if there's a pitcher to bet on for doing that, it would have to be him.
