MINER Projections
Jeff Sackmann of MinorLeagueSplits.com fame created his own set of projections for use in John Burnson’s Graphical Player 2008. He was kind enough to offer them for use on FanGraphs and now they’re available in the player pages and in their own sortable stats page.
His MINER projections are based off of the Marcel projections, but take into account batted ball data and minor league stats, including minor league batted ball data.
Still working on getting a link for a downloadable spreadsheet of the projections, but that should soon be available for those of you who want to play with them.
David Appelman is the creator of FanGraphs.

peavy hasnt had under 200 k’s since 2004, all the sudden out of the blue he’s gonna have under 200 after 3 straight years of 210+ k’s? sure thats logical specially for someone who’s not even at the age where numbers start to decrease yet.
also why not update bill james projections rather than allow another variation of a current guy’s projection in? we have marcels we dont need both marcel’s and the marcel’s clone who’s not intelligent enough to make his own projections and would rather just make a variation of someone’s current formula.
hey i got an idea invite someone from yahoo who’s never played in a pay league before to make the next projections? he might have a variation of yahoo’s big board.

These projections were done for a long running publication which I highly respect. One of the main reasons to have all the projections in one place is to see which ones you agree with, which ones look out of whack etc…
Obviously you think there’s something out of whack with some of the MINOR projections and it’s completely your call whether to take them into account or not. I’m sure there are a number of Bill James, CHONE, ZiPS and Marcels you do not agree with for various players.
I’m sure Jeff will take into account any constructive criticism when/if he chooses to run these next year.
And if your main complaint is that the Bill James projections have not been updated, they are in the process of being updated and should be available later today.

I’d say it’s very unlikely we’d be given permission to post PECOTA.
