Minor League Update

I just finished a fairly large minor league stats update. A number of standard statistics have been added such as IBB, SF, SH, etc… so any stats that should have included those now actually do include them. This will mainly effect things like all the wOBA stats.

Things you can look forward to in the coming months and next season are minor league game logs, improved leaderboards, batted ball data (LD/FB/GB), and the addition of the Dominican, Venezuelan and Mexican leagues.

All of the minor league player-ids have also been updated, but you shouldn’t notice anything different on your end. If you do see any problems please let me know.

Thanks for all the great upgrades (stat wise) here at FanGraphs, this is truly a wonderful site (Great stats + Great articles). I am really looking forward to the improved leaderboard changes that are upcoming. Hopefully, there will be more options in filtering leaderboards by time-slice. I would like to be able to enter the start and stop dates for filtering leaderboards/player stats, instead of choosing past calander year, 2007 season, 2008 season etc…

You may have just broken my firstinning visits for good. Looking forward to the batted ball data.

I know this is a hugesignficant deviation from the format of the site currently, and probably a pain to code, but I’m curious, without trying to sound like an ingrate, whether there’s a plan for splits of any kind in the future.

I love first inning, but this place is rapidly becoming a one stop shop now with improved minor stats. Now if they include the player linker tool to include minor league players, I may never use FI again.

      Thanks, David!

      • erik, the player linker tool does link minor league players, but I think it only links about 10,000 out of 12,000 since I filter out duplicate names for major/minor league players.

Great stuff as always… I feel I should point out again that if you would put the player age next to each season that would be extremely helpful. Baseball Cube and Baseball reference both do this. Its essential information when looking up a minor leaguer… and very helpful otherwise.
