I still don't understand why Moyer didn't ride off into the sunset after the Phillies won the Series. As a Braves fan, we all know the fastball is pretty much all he's got and its a below average pitch. As the article points out, Moyer isn't a specialist type. I guess he'll be used in long relief but will be worthless fantasy wise.

Something I thought was interesting is that Moyer's actually pitched much better in the second half. (3.77 ERA vs. 5.99 ERA before the Break). We'll see if Pedro can hold up. I'm pretty pessimistic. I think there's a strong chance we see Moyer starting again come September.

Jamie Moyer is sitting on 256 career wins. He's not a Hall of Famer, in my mind, but do you think he gets some buzz for what he's done over the Juiced Ball Era? History will look favorably on Moyer.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time seeing this as a permanent move. I forsee the Phils doing a lot of tinkering with the rotation and bullpen this month and next.

Does anyone really see Moyer as a true reliever in the Phils pen (barring injuries)? I think he gets mop up duty and spot starts on double headers, and will attempt to stay sharp in case they need him if Pedro crashes and burns, or if the Phils clinch early.
