He is my first choice, sadly, he isn't Joe or Ned's first choice.

I mean, come on, the Dodgers are going to be trying out....MAC SUZUKI!

McDonald's struggles this spring shouldn't be justification for dismissing him from the running just like his dominance in the playoffs for such a small sample shouldn't be considered indicative of anything. And it's not like the other candidates are blowing people away.

At what point does James McDonald became an option for the Dodgers in the 5th spot? How can he not be better option than Stults or Estes if Schmidt is injured? Yet I never see him mentioned.

Nice to see that Jason Schmidt's best seasons came in the middle of the "steroid era." Not to mention his K/9 rate was consistently below 7 through 1999, when it progressed upwards over 10 Ks per 9 by 2004. I'm sure he just continued to improve, a la Barry Bonds.

It's too bad that Schmidt's injury sidelined him to the extent that he has. Would be nice to see him bounce back but he may very well wind up in the bargain bin when it's all said and done.
